'Vincent and the Popcorn Pirates' Full Colour Spread
'Vincent loves going to the seaside. He loves making
sandcastles that could house princes and princesses. He loves paddling in the
sea with his daddy, and crab fishing with his mummy. He waits all through the
autumn, winter, and spring, for the summer to come around so he can go to the
seaside.'

'Vincent and the Popcorn Pirates' page

'Vincent and the Popcorn Pirates' first draft double spread
Inspired by a beach in East Anglia, this is the first draft of the first double page spread for 'Vincent and the Popcorn Pirates'. I loved working with detail on this piece and seeing come to life. I am hoping with the addition of colour the true depth will really come out. The main focus is still on Vincent as he is in the foreground, yet the detailed backdrop really places him on a real beach.

Vincent's Bedroom

The birth of my son in July 2011 was my inspiration for The Adventures of Vincent and Binkle. I have always had a love for Children's stories, growing up reading Enid Blyton and R.L. Stein.

Nightingale's End

Nightingale's End (while they are sleeping). Ink 'black & white' illustration.
My love of Expressionism really took hold in this illustration of the homes of Vincent (left house), and Lily (middle house). This night time view of Nightingale's End is supposed to convey the individuality of every house on the street. It was from this illustration that the illustration style for the Nightingale's End series developed.
